MUSHROOMS

Mushrooms can provide more than just taste & texture for our meals. They have a surprisingly high nutritional value also.
They are low in saturated fats ,sodium & a very low cholestrol.
Mushrooms are a good source of dietary fiber,proteins,vit C,folate,Iron,zinc,magnesium,vit D,thiamine,riboflavin,niacin,vit B 6,pantothenic acid,phosphorus,potassium,copper & selenium.

Health Benefits :
Weight loss food:
Mushrooms are low in calories, carbohydrates ,fats & sodium.high in water content & fibers.adding other foods with complementary amino acid profiles to this food may yield a more complete protein source & improves the quality of some types of restrictive diets.

Excellent source of potassium:
Mushrooms outrank bananas on the potassium chart.potassium helps the body process sodium & lower BP.thus it provides tremendous health benefits for people with hypertension or a high risk of stroke.

Disease fighting properties :
Excellent source of antioxidant selenium which with the help of Vit E helps preventing & fighting cancer.Mushrooms are most prominently linked to reduction of Breast & prostate cancer.
Shitake mushrooms in particular are high in the beta-glucan lentinan.Lentinan has been linked with strengthening the Immune system & helps combat illnesses that attack the Immune system like AIDS.

Copper:
Mushrooms are a rich source of copper.copper has properties that help protect our cardiovascular system.

In our fast paced lifestyles  where we are obsessed with processed and junk food the high content of magnesium ,potassium, phosphorus,&selenium found in a single dish of mushroom can really make up for some of the deficiencies we struggle to combat in our diets.
